Beginning from the Yuhan province in China, Coronavirus or COVID-19 has become a global pandemic since the start of 2020. The cases of Coronavirus are increasing gradually in different parts of the world. As we are yet to discover any vaccine of this disease, we are failing to stop the virus completely. Instead of this, we are trying to save us from the virus and create awareness among people. We must remember, we should not panic. The fear of the disease is more devastating than the disease itself. We must be aware of the symptoms, take the necessary precautions, and even if we get infected, no need to worry. If we abide by the instructions of the doctor and do not lose hope, we can surely defeat the virus.

There are some symptoms that indicate the infection of Coronavirus. Though these are common, you should seek medical attention if any of these symptoms appear.

The most common symptoms are –

  • fever
  • dry cough
  • tiredness

Less common symptoms are –

  • aches and pains
  • sore throat
  • diarrhea
  • conjunctivitis
  • headache
  • loss of taste or smell
  • a rash on skin or discoloration of fingers or toes.

The serious symptoms are –

  • difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • chest pain or pressure
  • loss of speech or movement.

Remember that any of these symptom’s presence does not mean you are surely infected by the Corona Virus. These are common symptoms and can happen due to various reasons. Seek medical attention if these symptoms appear and if you get infected follow the treatment guidelines. If you develop mild or moderate symptoms, treatment can be done in your home. There are several treatment guidelines that you have to follow if you get infected by the virus.

Usually, symptoms take time to develop. On average, symptoms show in 5-6 days. It can take up to 14 days also.

There is some positive news also. Some people have been infected by this virus. Yet they have not developed any of the symptoms and get cured automatically without a bit of medical assistance. Though any vaccine has not been invented, our bodies have started to produce the antibodies of Coronavirus.

You need to take some precautions to avoid getting infected by the virus. To stay on the safe side, abide by the precautions. Hopefully, these will work.

  1. Wash your hands by an alcohol-based sanitizer regularly. An alcohol-based sanitizer kills the viruses on your hands.
  2. Maintain a gap of a minimum of 6 feet from others. If you are too close to them, you are vulnerable to the small liquid droplets which they spray from the mouth or nose while they cough, sneeze or speak. These droplets may contain a virus. COVID spreads in this way. Also, avoid going into crowded places without any emergency case. Do not touch your mouth, nose, eyes repeatedly. Your hands touch many things, so they can pick up the virus. If the palms are infected and you touch your eyes or mouth with them, it will be easier for the virus to enter your body.
  3. Do not forget to wear a mask before going outside your house. The mask protects you from liquid droplets coming from others’ mouths as well as stops the spread of the droplets from your mouth. Do not just cover your face by a piece of cloth or something like that. Please use a proper face mask.
  4. Stay home if you are feeling unwell or weak. Remember, if you take the risk of going out even after developing symptoms, you will end up infecting some other person also. So, it is safe to stay at home for you and everyone around you if some symptoms appear.
  5. Develop your immunity. COVID attacks those who do not have a strong immunity system. Eat healthy and fresh foods. Increase protein in your food chart. Protein helps to increase immunity. Drink more water. If your immunity is good, you get an upper hand in defeating COVID.

These are the Precautions of COVID-19. If you follow this, you are on the safe side. Not only following the instructions, create awareness in your surroundings as much as possible.

  •  Isolate yourself. Stay in a separate room in your house and use a separate bathroom if possible. If you feel sicker, seek immediate medical assistance. Drink fluids, eat plenty of healthy foods to develop your immunity.
  1. If someone comes close to you or if you visit public places before the appearance of symptoms, make sure they also test themselves. COVID spreads rapidly. They are exposed to it as they have come close to you.
  2. Take care of your mental health. It is completely natural to go through an emotional breakdown or trauma during hard times. These do not make you a weak person. Depression is nothing to be ashamed of. Listen to soft kinds of music or inspirational songs, read good books, watch comic films to keep your mind distracted and happy. In case of a severe breakdown, do not hesitate to consult a professional psychiatrist.
  3. In the end, do not panic. Getting infected by a virus is not a crime. As we mentioned earlier, the fear of a disease is more devastating than the disease itself. Always remind yourself, you must get over this hard time.

COVID-19 is a disease. There is no need to neglect it or take it seriously. If this happens, we need to follow the guidelines provided by the World Health Organization and spread awareness. If someone gets infected, we have to show him/her sympathy. S/he has not committed any crime. Anybody can be infected by a virus. We need to take care of the patient physically and mentally.

There are some unfortunate events where the patient is facing unnecessary bashing. These are the outcomes of a lack of knowledge. Therefore, we need to spread awareness, take necessary precautions, and show some sympathy to the patients. Only then the virus can be stopped.
